Frequently asked questions

What is the best point of sale system for retail in Chile?

It depends on where the operation stands, and that is the question to answer before comparing products. For a single store, a checkout POS with electronic invoicing is more than enough. The criterion changes with several stores or several channels: the problem stops being the register and becomes whether stock, pricing and customer records are the same everywhere or each system holds its own version. DOT Solutions implements Retail Pro Prism and Mobile One for that scenario: they run on their own and also integrate with whatever ERP the company already has, including SAP Business One, so sales reach accounting and inventory without spreadsheets in between.

When does a point of sale system stop being enough?

There are four concrete signals, and two are enough to say the POS is no longer the right system. First: someone consolidates daily sales in a spreadsheet. Second: the stock the system shows is not what is in the warehouse, and the team already assumes you have to go look. Third: changing a price or a promotion means doing it store by store. Fourth: e-commerce and the physical store hold different inventories, so you sell what you do not have or stop selling what you do. Once these appear, the cost is no longer a new POS license: it is lost sales and rework hours.

Do I need SAP Business One to use the point of sale?

No. Retail Pro Prism, Mobile One and the rest of DOT Solutions' retail ecosystem run on their own, with their own sales, inventory and electronic invoicing. Integrating with an ERP is an optional step, added when the company already has one or when volume justifies it, and it works both with SAP Business One and with whatever ERP the company is running. Many clients start with the point of sale and add the ERP later.

Does the system issue electronic invoices and receipts (DTE) for Chile's tax authority?

Yes. Electronic invoicing is built into the point of sale and the ERP, so the receipt is issued at the register and recorded in the same flow, without a separate system. That includes the electronic shipping note, which from 1 November 2026 requires additional transport data under SII Resolution 154 of 2025 — actual origin and destination, driver and carrier identification, and vehicle plate — a deadline pushed back from 1 May by Resolution 52 of 2026.
